About Optimism Bias
Origin Story
Optimism Bias makes beautiful, comfortable compression socks that offer sophistication as well as support. Optimism Bias socks pair powerful compression (20–30 mmHg) with patterns and colorways that break all the rules of traditional health garments. A woman-owned and operated company, Optimism Bias was started in 2025 by a founder with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Above all, the brand embodies the belief that prioritizing health doesn't mean compromising style.
Design and Materials
Optimism Bias socks are designed in Ridgewood, New York and manufactured in Datang, China from moisture-wicking, breathable nylon, making them suitable for year-round wear. Each pair also features stainless steel teardrop charms for an unmistakable elevating touch.
How Compression Works
Compression socks apply gentle pressure to the legs, promoting circulation and reducing the swelling and discomfort that can come from periods of sustained sitting or standing. Compression levels are measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg), a unit of pressure that quantifies the “squeeze” of the sock. At 20–30 mmHg, Optimism Bias features high-performance compression for everyday wear. Compression socks can be useful for people with conditions including POTS, edema, and varicose veins. They are also often recommended for use during pregnancy. We advise consulting a doctor with any medical inquiries.
